Location:             York – Mainly 3 to 4 days on site.

Rate:                    £600 per day

Our client has an opening for a Senior Communication Manager to develop & deliver a consistent & effective communications strategy for key projects. The role will involve managing a broad range of stakeholder communication activities including media, public affairs, community relations and internal audiences.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse and manage the development and implementation of communication strategies that enable the delivery of the objectives contained in the client’s communications strategy
• Lead communications activities which present reputational risk or opportunities for the business
• Establish and effective network of internal and external contacts and provide direction/influence to senior managers and external industry parties and funding organisations where appropriate.
• Provide direct management and development of a team including carrying out regular 121’s, appraisals, objective setting, and performance monitoring.
• Provide guidance on all external communications activity undertaken by key personnel including Directors, Project Managers, and sponsors, delivering consistency with the approved communications strategy and in accordance with Network Rail’s corporate policies.
• Produce regular reports on all communications activities on the project, including budget.

Essential Skills

• Substantial experience in corporate communications
• High standards of written and spoken communication
• Experience and personal credibility to work effectively with senior managers
• Strong influencing skills
• Proven ability to grasp, understand and promote complex and sensitive issues in a persuasive and sensible way
• Ability to develop and maintain a wide network of stakeholder contacts
• Experience of directing and managing agency support
